Η Μαντώ Μαυρογένους υπήρξε μία από τις σημαντικότερες μορφές του 1821, μια αρχόντισσα που ξόδεψε όλη της την περιουσία για να βοηθήσει τους συμπατριώτες της να πολεμήσουν τους Οθωμανούς, μπαίνοντας μάλιστα η ίδια μπροστά σε πολλές πολεμικές συγκρούσεις.
